Oracle Identity and Access Management lifecycle status — the real story

Oracle Identity and Access Management is the Fusion Middleware family that includes Oracle Access Management (Access Manager, WebGates, Identity Federation), Oracle Identity Governance (Oracle Identity Manager), Oracle Unified Directory and Oracle Internet Directory. Its support windows come from Oracle's Fusion Middleware Lifetime Support Policy (edition effective April 13, 2026), which gives all four 14c (14.1.x) components Premier Support to December 2030 and Extended Support to December 2033, and all four 12c (12.2.x) components Premier Support to December 2026 and Extended Support to December 2027, the same months as WebLogic Server 12c and 14c. Oracle publishes months only and states that "unless otherwise noted, each stage of support is provided through the last day of the month", so dates here are the last day of Oracle's month. "End of support" is the end of Premier Support and "extended support" the end of paid Extended Support; Sustaining Support continues indefinitely but delivers no new fixes, security alerts or critical patch updates.

Older lines have their own rows: 11gR2 (Oracle Identity Management 11.1.2.x) ended Premier Support in December 2020 and Extended Support in December 2021; 11gR1 (Oracle Identity and Access Management 11.1.1.x) in June 2015 and June 2017, although the 11gR1 directory servers (Internet Directory and Virtual Directory 11.1.1.x) ran to December 2020 and December 2021; and the 10gR3 generation is split, Oracle Identity Management 10.1.4.x (Internet Directory, Single Sign-On, Virtual Directory, Identity Federation) ending in December 2011 while Oracle Access Manager 10.1.4.x ran to December 2016. The pre-acquisition Oracle Identity Manager 9.0.x and 9.1.x (Thor Xellerate) rows are included; the Sun, Oblix, Bharosa, Passlogix and OpenSSO heritage rows are not.

CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog files this family's entries under the product name "Fusion Middleware": CVE-2025-61757 (added November 21, 2025, "allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to take over Identity Manager"), CVE-2021-35587 ("Oracle Fusion Middleware Access Manager allows an unauthenticated attacker ... to takeover the Access Manager product") and CVE-2012-0518 (the Oracle Application Server Single Sign-On component, part of Identity Management 10g). None token-matches this product's name, so attribution needs a reviewed override. Error-correction dates within a release line are separate from these lifetime dates (Oracle Fusion Middleware Error Correction Policy, MOS Doc ID 1933372.1), and Identity Manager connectors have their own lifecycle (MOS Doc ID 2454684.1).

Oracle Identity and Access Management release and support pattern

Of the 8 release lines tracked, 6 are past end of life and 2 are still within support. The next scheduled end of life is 12.2 on December 31, 2026 — 80 days from this build. The longest-supported line currently published is 14.1, to December 31, 2030. Upstream also publishes an extended-support phase for 6 lines, shown in the table above.

Computed from the tracked release data at every build — the figures above are the dates in the table, restated, not an editorial estimate.

Oracle Identity and Access Management security intelligence

CISA KEV history: Oracle Identity and Access Management is named in CISA's Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog 2 times, most recently on 2025-11-21. Derived from CISA's live catalog at every build.

What does Oracle Identity and Access Management end of life mean for your organization?

When a version of Oracle Identity and Access Management reaches end of life, the maintainers stop issuing security patches. Vulnerabilities discovered after this date are publicly disclosed on the National Vulnerability Database, exploit code appears on GitHub, and your systems remain permanently exposed.

The CVE blind spot: A CVE-based scan does not show the accumulation of unpatched vulnerabilities in EOL software. Some scanners flag unsupported versions of common products, but coverage varies, and none of them give you the date in advance. With a zero-day, nobody knows about the vulnerability. With EOL software, the vulnerability is public — listed, rated, and often weaponized — but no vendor patch is coming. This is one of the most dangerous gaps in enterprise security posture.

Organizations running EOL Oracle Identity and Access Management should treat it as a vulnerability class in their risk register, apply compensating controls (network segmentation, enhanced monitoring, access restriction), and prioritize migration to a supported version.

Your options when Oracle Identity and Access Management reaches end of life

There are four realistic paths. Which one is right depends far more on how long the system needs to keep running than on the version you are on today.

OptionBest whenWatch out for
Move to a supported version The system will outlive the current version's support window and you can schedule the work Budget for compatibility testing, not just the upgrade itself — that is where the real cost sits
Replace the component The project is unmaintained, or a better-supported alternative exists The replacement has its own lifecycle and its own end-of-life date — you are changing vendors, not escaping the problem
Buy extended support Migration is genuinely underway but cannot finish before the deadline, or the workload is frozen by certification or a third-party application A bridge, not a destination — every year purchased is a year the migration still has to happen
Document accepted risk The system is isolated, short-lived, or scheduled for retirement Only defensible with real compensating controls and a written decision — auditors treat undocumented end-of-life software as a finding

How to choose, in one question: how many more years does this system need to run? Under a year, extended support (where it exists) is usually cheaper than an emergency migration. One to three years, migrate — support purchased repeatedly costs more than doing the project once, and the project only gets harder as the version ages. Indefinitely, migrate now and plan the next migration before it surprises you.

Worth saying plainly, because vendors selling extended support rarely will: extended support is often the more expensive choice over a multi-year horizon. It is the right answer when a deadline is genuinely unreachable, not as a default. Compare the annual fee against the one-time cost of migrating before committing to either.

Extended Support Options

If you cannot migrate immediately, extended support vendors provide continued security patches for EOL Oracle Identity and Access Management versions. This is a bridge, not a permanent solution — plan your migration in parallel.

When is the Oracle Identity and Access Management support end date?
The next Oracle Identity and Access Management support end date is December 31, 2026, when version 12c (12.2.x) reaches end of support. Each version has its own support end date — see the table above for every version's date.
